TERMS & CONDITIONS
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Salt and Oil website, any associated pages or services (collectively, the “Site”), and any purchase of products offered on the Site (“Products”). By using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
These Terms operate alongside South African laws that apply to online commerce and consumer protection, including the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (ECTA), the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA), and the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Eligibility to purchase and your account
You must be 18 years or older to place orders on the Site.
You must also be legally able to enter into contracts in South Africa.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
Information you provide must be true, accurate, current, and complete.
You carry the risk of unauthorized and fraudulent activities on your account.
Ordering, Contract Formation & Payment
Your order is an offer to purchase. A binding contract is formed when payment is received and we send you an order confirmation.

​We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout. Successful payment is subject to third‑party payment provider approvals.
You must be authorized to make the payment.
Each payment provider has its own terms and conditions. You accept those terms and conditions when you choose their payment method at checkout.
The payment provider is responsible for the security of the payment method and any personal information you provide during the payment process.

We reserve the right to cancel an order after confirmation (e.g., due to stock, or suspicion of fraud). You’ll receive a refund of all amounts paid for the cancelled items.

We deliver within South Africa using reputable couriers. Delivery times shown are estimates and may be affected by factors beyond our control.
We charge delivery fees which are displayed at checkout.
Risk in the products passes to you upon delivery to your address; title passes upon full payment.

product use, safety and care
Our Products are designed for external use only (unless stated otherwise). Always patch‑test, follow label directions, and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Essential‑oil / fragrance components (e.g., Palo Santo, vanilla, etc.) may not be suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, nursing, have a medical condition, or are sensitive to fragrances, consult a healthcare professional.
With candles, burn on heat‑safe surfaces, away from drafts/flammables, and never leave unattended. Keep away from children and pets.
promotions vouchers and gift cards
Promotional offers may be limited by time, stock, or eligibility and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Unless otherwise stated, promotions cannot be combined. If an order with a promotional item is returned, we may recalculate eligibility and adjust refunds accordingly.
content reviews and acceptable use
You may post reviews or content where available, provided it is lawful, non‑infringing, and not misleading. We may remove content at our discretion. You may not use the Site to distribute material that is defamatory, offensive, contains or amounts to hate speech, or is otherwise unlawful.
By submitting content, you grant us a non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to use it in connection with the Site and our business (e.g., marketing and display), to the extent permitted by law.
Intellectual property
Salt and Oil owns and manages the Site. When you use it, you're getting permission to browse and shop, but you don’t get ownership of any content or part of the Site.
All Site content, including text, graphics, logos, product names, images and layout, is owned by or licensed to Salt and Oil and protected by applicable IP laws.
You may not copy, adapt, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.
electronic communication and records
By using the Site, you consent to receive electronic communications (emails, SMS, in‑Site notices) related to orders, updates, and legal notices.
Electronic communications and records satisfy legal writing and notice requirements to the extent permitted by law.
data privacy
We process personal information in accordance with POPIA. We only collect information required to process order for Products on our Site. We only share information to third parties that form part of the order process, i.e. couriers.
Among other things, POPIA requires that personal information be processed lawfully, minimally, for explicit purposes, kept secure, and that data subject rights (access, correction, objection, deletion where applicable) be respected.
You can:

Ask about the third-parties who have had access to your personal information.

​​Ask that we correct inaccurate information that cannot be corrected by yourself on the Site.

Ask that we delete your personal information. However, we may still keel some of it for legal reasons.

We will secure your information and report qualifying security compromises to the Information Regulator and affected individuals as required by law.
We send your personal information overseas. We use cloud services that may store your data on servers in different countries. We only send what is necessary and won’t do it unless there are safeguards and protections in place that are aligned with our local privacy laws.

third party services
The Site may contain links to or integrations with third‑party platforms (e.g., payment providers, couriers). We are not responsible for third‑party content, terms, or policies.
Your use of third‑party services is at your own risk and subject to those providers’ terms.
liability
By using the Site, you understand and accept that you do so at your own risk, and you or your representative cannot hold Salt and Oil liable for any loss, damage, or costs that you may experience when you use the Site, except where the law requires us to take responsibility.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Salt and Oil is not liable for:

indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses;

losses arising from delays or issues caused by third parties (e.g., couriers, payment providers);

adverse skin reactions where Products were used contrary to instructions or without patch‑testing.
In all cases, our total liability in connection with any claim relating to a Product will not exceed the amount you paid for that Product.
indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Salt and Oil harmless against any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your breach of these Terms, misuse of the Site or Products, or infringement of third‑party rights, except where prohibited by law.
termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site (and cancel orders with a full refund if already paid) if we reasonably suspect fraud, abuse, or breach of these Terms.
changes to the site and these terms
We may update the Site and these Terms from time to time.
Material changes will be effective when posted to the Site. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If a court decides that any part of our agreement is invalid or unenforceable, all the other parts will still apply and remain in effect.
If either you or we fail to enforce a right under our agreement at some point, it does not mean we have given up that right forever. We can still use it later if needed.
governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. South African courts have jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms.
complaints and legal notice
Direct all complaints to our email address and we will review and provide feedback with the aim of resolving any issues you may have experienced with us.
